Nothing beats the winter blues quite like, well, the blues! Saskatoon has the cure for what ails you. Come visit for the…

With concerts at several venues throughout Saskatoon March 1st to March 3rd, this is your chance to see some of the most soulful blues performers in the game. Alberta’s Charlie Jacobson is slated to play both a solo show and one with his band, and if you’ve never seen this prairie boy play, you need to fix that immediately! He plays sweet, honeyed blues that will make you sway. Bring a date, because Charlie plays sexy.

Also playing is four time winner of the blues vocal award at the Maple Blues Awards, Angel Forrest. This sultry blues singer brings a style and a swagger all her own to the stage. You can see her blow the roof off TCU Place on March 2nd.
But if there is one performer you need to see at this year’s Blues Festival, it’s the Lil’ Jimmy Reed band. Lil’ Jimmy Reed’s real name is Leon Atkins, but there’s nothing fake about him – this 77 year old Louisiana Bluesman has been playing for decades, earning his right to take the name of one of the original blues players who influenced an entire generation of blues guitarists and rock and roll artists alike. He’s playing at TCU place on March 3rd – don’t miss out.

Of course, the great thing about the blues is that it isn’t just for listening – it’s also for playing. That’s why you should consider heading to the workshops on March 4 led by Cory Morin and Manitoba Hal, so you can learn to play the blues as down and dirty as they do. Registration is limited, so sign up now!
